Definition
Under direction, to obtain prescribed information by personal interview or numerical count; and to do other related work.
Typical Tasks
Obtains survey data by making house-to-house or person-to-person canvass or by taking numerical counts; completes questionnaires and survey forms; codes, checks, and reviews information; makes reports; may assist in compiling data.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of: Methods of gathering and compiling survey data. Skill in interviewing and securing information.
Ability to: Read and write English at a level required for successful job performance; read maps and plans and become quickly oriented in new geographic settings; make simple arithmetic computations; write neatly and legibly; complete interview forms accurately; prepare clear, accurate reports; walk long distances.

Willingness to walk long distances; willingness to work at irregular hours; willingness to travel throughout the State; impartiality; tact; pleasing personality; and neat personal appearance.
Additional Desirable Qualifications
Education equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade. Three months of experience in survey interview work or completion of a standard course in statistics.
