Definition
Under supervision, to provide general background information about museum exhibits; give directions and general information to the public; maintain order in the exhibit areas; and to do other related work.
Typical Tasks
Provides background information about exhibits to the public; answers visitor inquiries; directs visitors to various locations; demonstrates exhibit functions; explains Museum rules and regulations and maintains order in the exhibit areas; reports any problem situations, damage and vandalism of interior building and exhibits; identifies and reports safety hazards to appropriate personnel.

Knowledge and Abilities
Ability to: Read and write English at a level required for successful job performance; speak effectively before groups; deal tactfully with individuals and groups; assess situations accurately and take effective action.
Special Personal Characteristics
Neat appearance; good speaking voice; willingness to work on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays and on call, and to wear standard uniforms; ability to stand and work for long periods of time.
Additional Desirable Qualifications
Education equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade and experience involving major emphasis on oral presentations before groups.
