Definition
Under supervision in a temporary position, to perform simple repetitive clerical work; and to do other related work.
Job Characteristics
Employees in this class are employed on a temporary basis in seasonal clerical processing operations in which the work can be so organized that the only clerical skills required are the ability to read and write English and do simple arithmetic computations. Placement in some positions may depend on the ability to do simple repetitive typing.
Typical Tasks
Receives, opens, time stamps, sorts, and distributes mail as directed; addresses, stuffs, stamps envelopes; operates numbering or dating machines as directed; stamps papers or other documents; sorts, distributes, and files cards, letters, checks, and other documents by letter or number; does simple clipping and pasting of newspaper articles or other material as directed; makes simple arithmetical computations; fills in and sends out form and circular letters as directed; looks up information as directed; assists in compiling and tabulating simple statistical data as directed; operates duplicating machines or other office appliances as directed; carries or otherwise transports, sorts, distributes or processes bundles, boxes or bags of mail, documents or other materials as part of a clerical type operation.
Minimum Qualifications
The ability to read and write English and to do simple arithmetic computations.

Aptitude and willingness to perform simple clerical work; follow a prescribed routine; personal neatness and the ability to follow directions.
