If you are a state EEO Officer and need the Disability Survey link to distribute to your agency's employees, please email Workforce.Analysis@calhr.ca.gov.
If you have a disability and need special arrangements for a job examination or for a LEAP Readiness Evaluation through the California Department of Human Resources, contact the Examinations Unit at (866) 844-8671, or via the California Relay Service for the Deaf or Hard of Hearing at (800) 735-2929 from TTY Phones, or at (800) 735-2922 from voice phones.
If you need special arrangements for an examination conducted by another department, or if you need a reasonable accommodation to perform the essential functions of your state job, contact the Reasonable Accommodation Coordinator for the appropriate department. If there is no RA Coordinator listed, contact the department EEO Officer PDF | Excel. Each department is required by federal and state laws to provide Reasonable Accommodation (RA) when a job applicant or employee with a disability needs assistance in order to complete a selection process, perform the essential functions of a job, complete required training, or benefit from employer-sponsored events. Employers are obligated to provide accommodation unless to do so would cause them undue hardship.
Reasonable Accommodation Coordinators or other state employee assisting with the Reasonable Accommodation process may find these resources helpful. There are many types of accommodations and no one accommodation will be appropriate for all individuals with a disability.

The Limited Examination and Appointment Program (LEAP) is designed to help persons with disabilities get jobs in the California state civil service. LEAP is an alternative to the traditional testing process, allowing applicants to demonstrate knowledge, skills and abilities through on-the-job testing (a "Job Examination Period").
In order to be eligible for the LEAP program, candidates must be certified by the Department of Rehabilitation and have their LEAP certificate information entered into CalHR's database. Once a candidate is approved, the candidate may enter the program, which consists of the following steps:
Candidates who successfully complete the Job Examination Period are transitioned to the civil service classification for which they tested. LEAP exams are available at CalCareers.ca.gov.
Veterans Preference for LEAP Candidates
Due to recent changes in law and regulation, the LEAP Guidelines are under revision.
If you have any questions regarding the LEAP process, please email LEAP@calhr.ca.gov.
