Definition
Under supervision, does routine drafting work; and does other related work.
Typical Tasks
Work as an aid to a group of draftspersons or a project development design team. Does nonprofessional drafting work such as simple construction drawings and tracings involving plans, details, elevations, and mechanical or electrical installations; makes corrections on drawings as directed; assists with checking or dimensions; makes drawings and does lettering on all types of drafting surfaces in ink, pencil and other media; makes charts, maps and diagrams; and makes simple computations.
Minimum Qualifications
Either I
One year of experience in the California state service performing the duties of a Service Assistant (Engineering).
Or II
Education: Equivalent to completion of a course in drafting.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of: Materials, methods and equipment used in mechanical and freehand drawing and lettering in making charts, maps and diagrams; elementary principles of algebra and geometry and their application to engineering.
Skill in: Mechanical and freehand lettering and ink work.
Ability to: Communicate effectively, read and write English at a level required for successful job performance; follow oral and written directions.
