Definition
Under general direction, on a limited-term basis, to render expert assistance as a consultant on a program; and to do other related work.
Distinguishing Characteristics
Special Consultant is used for temporary authorization appointments to short-term positions lasting nine months or less.
New Program Consultant is used for initial temporary authorization appointments to long-term positions pending the establishment of permanent classes.
Minimum Qualifications
Broad and extensive experience in the field involved in the particular litigation, study, or investigation program.

Based upon individual's qualifications and salary history.
