Definition
Under supervision, to learn and perform technical staff work in the development of Real Estate Licensing examinations.
Typical Tasks
Persons in this class construct real estate broker and salespersons licensing examinations, selecting written test questions of appropriate scope and difficulty; edit and rewrite substandard test items in the Department of Real Estate's item bank and items submitted by subject-matter experts; read and interpret subject matter; work with test consultants in writing new test questions; perform item analyses; evaluate and update item statistics; determine test series to pretest new items; maintain inventory of test booklets; respond to exam appeals; resolve item protests; and prepare correspondence.
Minimum Qualifications
Either I
Experience: One year of experience in the California state service performing semitechnical duties equivalent in responsibility to a Program Technician I, in the Department of Real Estate.
Or II
One year of work experience performing semitechnical duties at least equivalent in responsibility to Program Technician I, two years of college may be substituted for the work experience.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of: Grammar, spelling, punctuation, English usage.
Ability to: Interpret written material, write effectively, analyze written and numerical data accurately, work effectively with others, accept increasing responsibility for accuracy and thoroughness in performance of duties; make satisfactory progress in a prescribed training program.
