Supervisory Skills Module 4: Application and Enhancement of Supervisory Skills

Overview

The last module of the Supervising for Performance Series is designed to promote and cement the application of the skills learned and practiced in the previous sessions. In these final two days, supervisors discuss using their time to maximum effect, using meetings to accomplish results rather than generate activities, and leading remotely-located teams. Finally, supervisors will spend time drafting and finalizing an action or application plan for implementing their newly found skills to build high performing teams and departments.

Please note, Supervisory Skills Module 1 - 3 may be taken in any order. Supervisory Skills Module 4 must be the final course taken in the series.

Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Develop time management techniques
  • Enact facilitation skills
  • Review the human side of change
  • Acquire off-site supervision guidelines
  • Develop action planning skills

Intended Audience

This class is intended for newly appointed supervisors and for those supervisors who desire to take refresher training. This course satisfies part of the requirements California Government Code Section 19995.4(b) for new supervisor training.
