Welcome to the 2015 CalHR Conference: Creating Tomorrow’s Workforce Today.  This year’s event will provide you with an opportunity to learn new skills, share your thoughts and ideas with fellow HR professionals and inspire you with new techniques and concepts for you to incorporate when return to your office.

This year’s conference features three tracks of classes focusing on Development, Professional and Strategic topics. Attendees can pick classes from one track or move back and forth. The conference will also spotlight the Civil Service Improvement effort announced by Governor Brown.

Peter Hutchinson, Accenture
Managing Director
Peter Hutchinson is leading management consulting strategy for Accenture’s State, Provincial and Local Government practice throughout North America. He focuses on the concerns of top decision makers in government, nonprofit organizations and education. Peter is well-known as a courageous leader and problem solver in business, government, education and non-profit organizations. He previously served as Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Finance, as Superintendent of Schools in Minneapolis, as a deputy mayor, as corporate vice president at the Dayton Hudson Corporation (now Target), and most recently as president of the Bush Foundation, one of Minnesota’s largest, independent foundations. Peter is a highly sought after speaker and thought leader in North America on topics related to state and local government transformation and leadership.

Join Secretary Batjer’s Special Guest, Dr. Adela de la Torre, Vice Chancellor, UC Davis as she speaks about how Millennials value highly a culture that emphasizes respect for individuality, and their definition of diversity extends far beyond demographic markers. Understanding Millennials’ view of diversity will give employers greater insight into attracting and retaining them. State agencies that can understand and appreciate how important diversity is, in all its aspects, will continue to be the most innovative and nimble in responding to current and emerging policy issues. Join University of California, Davis Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Adela de la Torre as she discusses the importance of creating a more flexible and adaptive organizational culture which encourages and engages this most racially diverse generation in American history.
